Disability Discrimination Act and Websites
Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act came into effect on 1st October 2004. It states that employers or business owners who provide a service must make 'reasonable adjustments' to their premises/services to accommodate the needs of people who suffer from disability. Not only are people with mobility impairments covered by the new rights but also those with sensory impairments. This means that the legislation, by definition will extend to websites.
Crisp have developed and continue to build accessible websites. These range from those aimed specifically at disabled users, such as www.pluss.org.uk, to websites that look and feel like a standard site but are also accessible. For examples, have a look at our portfolio pages.
